Advanced Placement (AP) Exams:
Advanced Placement Prorgram offers college-level equvilant courses that can be taken in high schools. Students can earn college credits if they pass their AP exams at the end of the year in May, or become qualified to take more advanced couses in college. AP offers a varitey of subjects that allows students to demonstrate their skills through the actual exams and further differentiate themsevles from their peers.
SAT Subject Tests:
Currently, there are 20 different subject tests available on College Board. You may take up to 3 subject tests per test date. SAT Subject Tests focus on assessing students' topical knowledge. If you are planning on applying to selective colleges, you should look closely at their testing requiremnts. Many of which, including Harvad, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon, do require you to submit scores from one to three SAT II tests, (usually two). Some colleges and departments have more specific guidelines regarding which SAT subject tests you need to take before applying. We urge our students to take at least two SAT subjects before the November of their Senior Year. It would be helpful to plan ahead and start taking classes during the second semester of your junior year in order to achieve high scores on multiple tests.
